Through generosity and support, we want to positively impact children, families, the community, and even the world.
Dr. Wilkerson and the team at Children’s Dentistry strive to make an impact in the office, the Charleston, WV community, and beyond. Find out some of the ways we stay involved, plus discover how you can help or donate, too.
Union Mission Food Drive
Each year, Union Mission donates food to thousands of people. During the holiday season, we organize a food drive in the office to fill as many barrels as possible and help those in need.
Our awesome patients are always willing to help by donating canned goods, and kids enjoy joining in too. In addition, the food drive helps children understand the importance of giving back.
Alzheimer's Association
Dr. Tom, Dr. Tracy Wilkerson’s father, was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s in 2000. Since living through her father’s diagnosis, Dr. Tracy Wilkerson and her family have been committed to helping this organization find a cure for the disease.
Our dentist joins with the Alzheimer’s Association to help eliminate the disease by advancing research, providing and enhancing support and care for those affected, and reducing the risk of dementia by promoting brain health. We look forward to sponsoring the fundraiser walk once again soon.
Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences of WV
The Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences of West Virginia is a 240,000 square-foot space for performing arts, visual arts, and sciences all under one roof (one of the few of its kind in the country). Its mission is to inspire creativity, learning, and wonder through experiences in the arts and sciences for all people in the region.
The facility, located in Charleston, is home to the Clay Center’s Avampato Discovery Museum, Juliet Art Museum, Maier Foundation Performance Hall, and West Virginia Symphony Orchestra. We’ve sponsored Cirque Mechanics, Measuring Rules, the Eggstravaganza, Hallo-Weekends family fun events, and hands-on exhibits in the Mylan Explore-atory. Dr.Wilkerson was on the Board of Directors, and we still love getting our patients involved in this outstanding programming.
Heart Of The Mountain Mission
Heart Of The Mountain Mission is a non-profit organization located in West Virginia and serves La Digue Matheux, Haiti. The mission strives to serve God by working with the people and community of Haiti – to provide medical and dental relief, educational opportunities, entrepreneurial assistance, and overall improvement in living conditions and nutrition.
Children’s Dentistry provides dental supplies to the kids in this area, and Dr. Wilkerson visits the region regularly with her family. Our goal is to one day start a permanent dental clinic for the residents in Haiti.
Kanawha County Dental Health Council
Dr. Wilkerson has been on the Kanawha County Dental Health Council Board of Directors for over 15 years and serves as the current vice president (her father, Dr. Thomas Wilkerson, held this position before her). For over 50 years, this group has been helping the students of Kanawha County who have no dental coverage or are from difficult economic situations. It allows children to access dental health during the school day at no cost to the patient.
While affordable dental care becomes a more significant burden each year with the changing economy, this group works tirelessly to help Kanawha County school children. Recently, we asked our patients to color a picture after their appointment with us, and for each image, we donated a contribution to the Kanawha County Dental Health Council. We loved seeing the kids participate and create fantastic artwork!
Patient Referrals
Discover our fun patient referral program: We give away trips for patients that win the referral program and send us their friends and family as new patients. We’ve already given away three trips to Disney World!
We all have a blast and always shed some tears on the surprise visit when we present the trip to the child.
To involve more wonderful families in our practice, we are giving away family vacations quarterly, making it possible to give four families a fun and memorable experience!
Dr. Thomas Wilkerson Scholarship
Guiding young people into a dental career.
The Dr. Thomas Wilkerson Scholarship is awarded to patients pursuing a career in dentistry or dental hygiene. Each recipient receives a $500 check towards their studies, and winners are selected based on essay submissions detailing why the field was chosen, who inspires them, and how they plan to impact our community of West Virginia in the future.
We collect essays each year from patients pursuing a dentistry career and look forward to helping our youth in their endeavors. Congratulations to our recent scholarship recipients, and we wish you all the best!
